I live on county road 8 near burnbrae road. The cell service is horrendous. Thank god for wifi calling when I am at home or I would not be able to phone anyone.
The Bell "towers" in Campbellford are actually antennas located on the roof of three buildings downtown. Because they are not visible from the street, I assume that they are further back on the roof, leaving a big shadow for most of downtown. New Bell towers outside downtown as a replacement would help.
I live south of town, and my phone drops back to 3G service when I don't have WiFi. This is unfortunate because Bell is cancelling 3G service in March (unless you pay extra for it). When I ask on their chat, I just get disconnected.
I live in town, up by the water tower. I'm with Public Mobile, the cheap Telus carrier. I can't finish a phone call while inside my house. Within a couple of minutes, the person I'm speaking to can no longer hear me, but I can still hear them. I have to go outside to have a successful conversation & it's incredibly frustrating. I just moved to Campbellford in May, from 2.5 hrs further north, where I lived in the woods 15 minutes outside of the closest much smaller town, yet my cell service there was way better! Not sure what I'm going to do come winter. It's also a huge safety concern if I ever need to call for any emergency services, as they wouldn't be able to hear me. I can't understand this in s town the size of Campbellford.
We keep our landline because of the poor cell service. We’re about 7 minutes east of Sharpes, but even in town the cell service continues to be dreadful. Every winter we spend a couple of weeks in Costa Rica where cell and wifi service are fabulous, in spite of the mountainous terrain. So it’s quite confounding to think we can’t do as well in Canada. I think there’s more to this story from the technical side and hope it becomes apparent, so that we can lobby for something that serves us better. Keep digging Art!

I suspect there are technical reasons too. Hopefully, someone with some expertise will help explain what they might be.
