Trent Hills seeks new CAO
Updated story -- CAO resigns to take a new job

Trent Hills council held a closed session on Tuesday morning to discuss the steps it must take to recruit a new Chief Administrative Officer.
Chief Administrative Officer Lynn Phillips said in an email that she resigned last week and has accepted “a senior role with another organization outside of the municipal sector.”
Phillips joined the organization in October 2010 as the Community Development Officer and was appointed Chief Administrative Officer in 2015.
“I am so appreciative of the opportunity to work in Trent Hills and extremely proud of all that has been accomplished over the last 15 years,” she said in a municipal statement. “It has been an honour to serve this community and to work with such talented and dedicated staff.”
“On behalf of council, I extend our gratitude for Lynn’s many contributions and visionary guidance,” said Mayor Bob Crate. “We wish her nothing but success and fulfillment as she embarks on this next chapter.”
In an interview, Crate said that the municipality is in good shape with experienced staff who can step in to fill any gaps. An acting CAO will be appointed later this week.
He said Phillips is probably five to six years from retirement and jumped at an opportunity to try something different.
“We have a lot of capable people in our organization and we don’t have to do anything immediately,” Crate added.
Phillips will vacate the position at the end of November. She has been a Trent Hills employee for 15 years and has been CAO for 10 ½ years. In 2024 she earned $158,468, a six per cent increase over the previous year.
