Trent Hills seeks new CAO
Closed council meeting discusses recruitment of new staff leader
Trent Hills council held a closed session on Tuesday morning to discuss the need to recruit a new Chief Administrative Officer.
After meeting in private for half an hour, the public session, which included current Chief Administrative Officer Lynn Phillips, adjourned.
Phillips has been a Trent Hills employee for 15 years and has been CAO for 10 ½ years. In 2024 she earned $158,468, a six per cent increase over the previous year.
The municipality offered no explanation of why it was starting a CAO search.
Councillor Daniel Giddings said he couldn’t comment on the meeting since it was closed. “It will all come out,” he added.
Maybe. Northumberland County CAO Jennifer Moore left her position in September and we know no more about her departure than we did two months ago. The county now has an acting CAO. It seems likely Trent Hills is headed in the same direction.

Would suggest that they hire an administrator with a proven track record. When there was so many water main breaks on Trent Island they led the residents to believe that it would be constructed according to the presentation of Engage Engineering. Approximately three weeks later we were told they had no money as there was no government grants. They then approved a partial rebuild which I believe staff recommended do to the many breaks. Two weeks ago another two breaks further South. With information technology it takes a leader with a good education. Grants seem to be the big thing today. Last week there was so many municipal vehicles parked around the office and garage it looked like a car lot. Needs a experienced leader.
