Trent Hills wants your opinion on parking meters and all things parking in the downtown areas of our three communities.
To get your feedback, the municipality has an online survey that will be open until Thursday, March 20.
As I wrote on Feb. 5, the town is reviewing its parking policies and requirements for developers. I noted that several councillors quickly said ‘no’ to a suggestion that Campbellford try parking meters again. Long-time residents recall that meters have come and gone a couple of times.
Here are some of the questions on the survey:
What are the challenges and limitations with how parking is currently handled within Trent Hills?
Should on-street parking spaces be used for non-parking purposes, i.e. displays, patios, etc. within your community?
Do you think there are enough parking spots available in the downtown areas of Trent Hills?
How has your experience been with paid parking/parking meters in other towns?
Are you aware of the current parking minimums, as required by the Trent Hills Comprehensive Zoning By-law?
Do you think that the parking minimums should be reduced, eliminated, or changed in some other way?
The parking issue was discussed by the Community Development Advisory Committee back in November. The committee’s next meeting is Wednesday, March 26. The committee has also been asked to consider the town’s proposal to charge retailers an annual fee if they want to put signs or products on the sidewalk and to obtain $5 million in liability insurance.
