I had heard the rumour about the closing from a friend on Saturday, but wound up chasing the tax story first this morning. Then, looked at Facebook and realized the rumour was true. Trying to offer some facts in place of wrong assumptions on FB.

Just the outlet. They are two separate companies, basically in different businesses.

So sad as I have relatives in the town which my trips even better. Now coming from montreal will be bitter sweet as I have been doing this since the 60's a quaint little town so sad as the chocolate factory no longer being there will make it a different trip

Perhaps when Doug Ford was there delivering money to the factory he should have sprinkled some over to the outlet store. Would hope the council would contact the owners of the outlet store to see if they or the Prov. Govt. could help. It is too bad to lose that tourist attraction.

Huh... We've seen this sort of thing many times before. Big expansion, a helping hand from government, and once they get what they came for people loose their jobs.

I recognise they are two separate corporate entities, but the left and right and still wings of the same bird.

Thanks for this story Art. I'm not clear on whether it is just the outlet store that is closing or the entire factory.

Just the outlet. The factory is a separate company and they are in different businesses.
