Skate, plunge, eat or curl
Lots of local ways to get together and support community activities
One of the great things about living in Trent Hills is all the opportunities we have to get together with friends and neighbours to support our local community groups. Over the next several weeks we’ll have the chance to skate, plunge, curl, eat, run, and listen together.
First up, on Saturday from 2:30 p.m. till 4 p.m. you can take part in the third annual Bridge Hospice Skate-a-thon, or you can just stop in at the Sunny Life Recreation and Wellness Centre to support the skaters.
Sponsor my friend Doug Runions as he zooms around the ice collecting big bucks for each lap, or back Dr. Kelly Parks, medical director for the hospice, and her Platinum Blades skating team. Parks will match donations to her team, up to $10,000. You can donate online here.
For a contribution of $10 or more you can join the skaters after 3 p.m. and enjoy our new ice surface.
Take the plunge
On Saturday, Jan. 24 at noon you can join the dippers taking part in the 34th annual Polar Plunge jump into the Trent River fundraiser for Campbellford Memorial Hospital. You can donate online here.
Curl and dine
On Saturday, Feb. 7 the annual fundraiser for the Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation pairs food, drink and curling at its Ice, Cheese, Wine & Spiel at the Campbellford and District Curling and Racquet Club.
Dinner in the Dark
Get your gala tickets now for the IncrEdible Trent Hills fundraising dinner on Saturday, March 7 at the Masonic Temple in Campbellford. Enjoy a seven-course dinner based on locally sourced ingredients. The fun event supports the year-round work of IncrEdible Trent Hills and its festival in July.
Run the Ranney
Registration is now open and training is under way for some of us for the 2026 Ranney Gorge Run ~ Presented by Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance Company. Details here. The event on Sunday, May 3 includes 5- or 10.55-kilometre runs or walks, or a 1-kilometre fun run. It’s always a great run through Ferris Park.
Music by the river
The Lions Club of Campbellford has decided it will hold the Melodies at the Mill weekly concerts again this summer. They’ll be looking for local businesses to help sponsor the local musicians who play. They also hope to find Elvis to come play again. Details to come.
