For the second consecutive year, Marg Graham has organized a gratitude project in Campbellford to show all the things residents are thankful for at this time of year.
Graham said she has admired the long-running gratitude project in Warkworth and decided it should spread north a bit. Last year she got the three local public schools involved and had students fill out gratitude ribbons.
This year she asked local businesses to have shoppers stop and think about what they were grateful for.
On Friday morning, Mayor Bob Crate and Councillors Daniel Giddings and Rick English came out to help Marg and others hang the ribbons in Old Mill Park and in the square at Front and Bridge Streets.
“I spent last night sewing all the ribbons onto long ribbons so they could be hung easier,” Graham said.
Just a random sample of what people are grateful for at this turbulent moment in our history:
I am thankful for dogs.
I am grateful for my Mom and my Dad.
Dooher’s Donuts.
A roof over my head.
Jesus.
Graham says she’ll leave the ribbons blowing in the breeze until Tuesday and she hopes visitors passing through town this long weekend will appreciate the display.
“They can see what we are grateful for so many things,” she said.
