The local housing market continued to struggle in June as sales and prices were down from the previous month and year-over-year.
In June 14 homes sold in Trent Hills for a median price of $532,500. That compared with 33 sales in May with a median price of $589,900. In June 2024, 20 homes sold, and the median price was 11 per cent higher at $600,000, according to statistics from the Central Lakes Association of Realtors.
There were 69 new listings last month and 149 active listings at the end of June, up from 123 a month earlier.
All of Northumberland County saw 130 sales in June 2025, with an average price of $712,135, compared to 154 sales at $748,535 last year. County-wide new listings increased from 336 to 387 year-over-year, and active listings grew from 605 to 768.
For comparison, Peterborough witnessed a significant 37 per cent increase in sales, rising from 179 in June of 2024 to 245 in June 2025. The average price also increased by 13 per cent, reaching $783,966, from $693,397 during the same period. Average days on market held steady at 27.
Prince Edward County observed an increase in average price from $759,570 in June 2024 to $781,054 this June. The number of sales rose by 12% from 33 to 37 during the same time.
A bit further afield, new home sales in the GTA are on pace for their lowest level in decades, with single-family sales down over 50 per cent and condo apartment sales down nearly 65 per cent year-over-year, Altus Group report says.
Altus Group says sales of single-family homes in the GTA could drop from 10,000 to 3,000 units per year and condo sales could plummet from 22,000 units to 2,000.
Artworth again offers programs for adults
Artworth is offering adults talks, walks, and workshops that will cover everything from local mushrooms to how to make birchbark baskets.
For more than 20 years, Artworth has offered artistic and nature programs for children and youth in Warkworth and Campbellford.
In 2024, it launched Artworth for Adults, and with support from Community Power Northumberland and the Whole Learning Alliance. Artworth for Adults provides educational and creative cultural programming through annual talks, walks and workshops.
The talks on a virtual underwater tour of the Trent River, local mushrooms, and the big world of tiny fungi will be held at the Aron Theatre Co-op in September, October and November. They’re pay what you can at the door. Details on the talks and all the programs on the Artworth website.
The four monthly tree walks in Campbellford and Ferris Provincial Park will be led by Sammy Tangir.
The art and nature workshops include birchbark basket making on August 8; drawing with Dimitri Papatheodorou on Friday afternoons in August and September; and a traditional drum making workshop in September.
