Your articles are always great but I'm particularly grateful that you crossed your own guidelines to publish The Man Who Died of Nothing, my rather long story about my husband's short illness and sudden death. It is funny though, that the LGBTQ gang are the only ones that press the need for you to recognize them. Everyone else seems to just be comfortable in knowing who they are without having everyone else play along to validate it.
Anyways, that crosswalk was definitely starting to show the wear.
I too congratulate you Art for the work you are doing. Council and the administration would go un checked. They got my attention when I complained about four years ago when Trent Island started having numerous water main breaks, the patches were like moguls on a ski hill. This is from a resident that had been on council some twenty five years ago and had been quiet about council actions. I kept getting told we have no money mean while in my opinion our utility money was going elsewhere. The photo of the old and new water tower Art says it all to me. Where are these developers building the houses to help pay for the infrastructure. I dealt with four water managers until they hired the last one Kyle Beacock who got the attention of the administration and council. Went through MPP Picinni who said it should be fixed under asset management. He got my complaint. The administration last year started fixing the worst spots on Tanner and Parkview and we’re going to fix more in 2026. Surprise Surprise the Ontario Govt. Came through with money to replace the whole water, sewer and paved roads. Thr council didn,t think according to your article that they would get the money. There is some waste as they pulverized the new pavement which will be redone. It goes to show the squeaking wheel does get attention.
Art your article on the Nappen Island about developers and the housing just West of town stopped, road blocked and the one North of the Campbellford Arena appears stopped with the road partly blocked but a sewage pump station newly built.
I would like to see a new council that listen to the rate payers and the developers should be putting up money in advance. In regards to Gay and pride every body should be able to be what ever they want as long as the costs does not effect the tax base.

I am very pleased to read of Deputy Mayor Mike Metcalf's response. Too often, homophobic and racist comments go unchecked around here.
