We are fortunate to have you reporting on news from within our community Art, and the subscription price is really only pennies for us per issue. Doubling your paid numbers would help to keep you doing what you’re doing - come on people, support your local fish wrapper/rag!!

First off, “Happy 2nd Birthday.” As others have pointed out, your valued writings are informative and serve the community as the basis for observations and opinions. To that end, but not to dampen the celebratory vibe, I’m going to take exception to what I feel is an unjust commentary. “Every time a development proposal in Hastings comes to council it attracts residents who don’t want that village to change.” My rewording/editing would be along the lines of: “Every time a development proposal in Hastings comes to council it attracts residents who feel common sense issues, such as lack of parking and responsible planning for the future are set aside and overshadowed by the gleam and greed of higher tax revenues.” Merry Christmas to all.

I agree with what has been posted. At my age I will not likely see the new hospital but I agree with you putting a line in the budget for the hospital. The Mayor and the council need to lead. I use to hang around snowmobiling and fishing with Don Bennett and Murray Locke they told stories about the building of the present hospital. Don Meyers kept a fire burning all night to keep the cement from freezing. Don Bennett was on the hospital board for years.

A suggestion for money for the hospital could come from the profit of the Marina and the camping area that could be re built at Crowe River. The last year and meeting on my term on council was the manager wanted to get rid of some of local people camped there as he didn,t think there campers were up to snuff and he would fill it with people from the GTA on weekends. I later heard he didn,t last and the camping section didn,t open as someone forgot to pump the holding tank which was above ground. Municipal staff this winter when they are not ploughing snow could possibly rebuild the road and restore the camp sites.

In any event just my thoughts and I will conclude by saying my family goes back a long way in Trent Hills, my grandfather died in the flu epidemic of 1918, I spent time in Hastings with my grandmother when my cousins was having a baby and in Warkworth when my uncle was running the coop and living above. Came to Campbellford in 1970 and worked in all of Trent Hills.

Trent Hills is a wonderful place to live each of the three urban centres have something to offer. Take a drive enjoy the views of all Trent Hills has to offer. Looking for the council to take the lead on this new hospital.

Thank you Art for your diligence and clarity of voice. Informing the community is essential about issues that involve everyone. The politicians also need to know that their community is informed.
